We believe and train to be able to fight proficiently at all ranges: Kicking, Punching, Trapping, Grappling. We aim to do as much work/damage at each of the ranges before jumping to the next range. It is very popular amongst MMA practitioners to immediately try to go for grappling range due to the recent publicity Brazillian Ju-Jitsu and wrestling have received. However, we believe in not rushing past ranges unless

 

a) we are being out done at a certain range

or

b) we know that our opponent is better at a specific range.

 

Striking is still no.1 in all MMA fights. Striking is what the audience wants to see and striking is what ends most fights whether standing or on the ground, especially now that everyone is so well versed at submissions. Striking ranges are the first ranges that every fight will begin with and a lot of fights will not progress past striking ranges. Grappling has it's place in MMA but we also practise grappling with the frame of mind that a 'street' opponent will be biting and gouging. We always train for and imagine the hardest, toughest opponents so therefore reality will be easier.

We believe in working both people's strengths as well as weaknesses so that over a period of time they can develop further strengths. We also believe that everyone is different and we do not try to force our students to become carbon copies of their instructors. We promote individuality and an 'if it works it's good' attitude which is why our fighters have completely different styles and fighting preferences. We train hard together in a atmosphere of friendship and we all want each other to continue to improve because it helps us all to improve. We love to gain new members and we are here to help and build up everyone that starts with us.

 

This is vastly different from other club's philosophies of 'beat them up and break them down'. The MMA we teach is for everyone and it has many benefits for both competitors & non-competitors regardless of physical ability, age or gender. Get fit, flexible, strong, confident and learn to defend yourself all while having fun on our MMA program.
